Connector and Cable Information

Gateworks provides alternate connectors for specific items on the SBC. These alternate connectors are typically used for rugged applications where a more flat profile or locking connector is needed.

Power Connectors

Gateworks typically loads a 2.5mm barrel jack connector for power however most boards include alternate holes for 0.156"/3.96mm spaced power connectors on larger boards and 2mm pitched connectors on smaller boards. Here is a list of common connectors that Gateworks stocks. Contact support for more information on having your board loaded with one of these alternate connectors.

0.156"/3.96mm Pitch

  • Molex Vertical (locking, non-shrouded)-GW#02050506: (most common)
    • Pitch - 0.156" (3.96mm)
    • Common on larger boards, such as Ventana GW53xx, 54xx, 63xx, 64xx

  • Common on smaller boards like the GW5100, GW5530, GW6100

Locking Barrel Jack

  • Gateworks offers a cable with this connector for boards such as the GW5100. The cable features a 2-pin JST (2mm pitch) on one side which terminates to the screw locking barrel jack. See the following link and picture: (​GW10132). This can be used on boards with 2-pin JST power connectors such as the GW5100.

Ethernet Connectors

Ethernet requires 8 pins for gigabit and 4 pins for 10/100.

We typically use a 2x4 connector with 2mm spacing and through-hole.

Ventana/Newport Alternate Ethernet Connector

GW5100 & GW6100 Alternate Ethernet Connector

The RJ45 Ethernet connector on the GW5100 & GW6100 can be replaced with an 8-pin pico-Molex connector (Gateworks Part No: 02050633).

HDMI Connector

There are no options for headers for the HDMI port on the Ventana.

USB Connectors

USB is typically 8 pins and SMT.

  • USB Host - 8 pin Vertical Shrouded 2x4x2MM

Pushbutton - Switch Connector

The standard pushbutton on most boards can be replaced with a header typically:

Front Panel LED ( Red / Green)

The standard LED on most boards can be replaced with a header typically that is .1 inch or 2.54mm and a 1x2.

JTAG / 2x5 10 Pin Connectors

This is a 10 pin small header. (2X5X0.05IN,1.75A,HEADER)

Ventana Cable Connector Information

The Ventana boards use a variety of JST 2mm spacing connectors for the different I/O ports (RS232, CAN, DIO, video, analog, tamper, etc.). Mates to these connectors can be purchased at Digikey. Here is the info for the various connectors:

GW5510 30-pin Connector

The GW5510/GW5514 uses a 30-pin expansion header for access to the I/O signals. A Samtec TFM-115-22-L-D-A-TR connector is used on the board for this header. Samtec has both board to board and board to cable options for this connector. For board to board the mating board should use a Samtec SFM-115-02-L-D-A-TR. For board to cable options the Samtec SFSD series can be used. Pins are rated up to 2.9A per pin.

There is no single direct part number because the wiring gauge will differ for each customer, etc. There are many options.
